Tainan, Taiwan — October 2025 — The first satellite of Taiwan’s new FORMOSAT-8 constellation, the Zeppelin Satellite, is scheduled to launch this November, marking a proud milestone in Taiwan’s space development. To celebrate and inspire public interest in space technology, we join forces with the National Space Organization (TASA) and National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) to present the “Spectacular Space Carnival.”

The event will take place on Saturday, October 25, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, at the Planetarium. Visitors can enjoy a full day of engaging activities, including a hands-on “Fly High” DIY workshop, satellite-themed games, family science challenges, and stamp-collecting prizes. The highlights of the day are two public science lectures delivered by experts from the FORMOSAT-8 project team, who will share behind-the-scenes insights into the satellite’s design, development, and upcoming mission.

Additional free events include guided tours of the new special exhibition, “Mission Star Trail: FORMOSAT-8,” opening a day earlier on Friday, October 24. The exhibition, located on the 1st floor of the planetarium, offers visitors an inside look at Taiwan’s growing space capabilities and the many applications of the FORMOSAT-8 mission.

Interactive booths throughout the planetarium will invite visitors to explore topics such as satellite communication, thermal engines, lunar phases, and planetary exploration — even a VR lunar rover experience. For younger participants, creative workshops like the “Paint Your FORMOSAT-8” DIY session will spark curiosity and imagination.

In the exhibition’s “Star Wishes: Taiwan’s Dream Takes Flight” zone, guests are encouraged to send their blessings to FORMOSAT-8, symbolically lighting up its journey through space and reflecting Taiwan’s aspirations to reach for the stars.
